After the serious posts of last week where I chatted about ministry, I'm back to my usual self.
First, go get a pair of Crocs. These weird lightweight shoes are too comfortable for words. TLD and I ordered pairs from www.shoestation.com after seeing pairs being worn all over the Backwater. I'm wearing the Crocs now and making quite the fashion statement. These aren't pretty shoes but Lord Have Mercy they make yer dawgs feel happy.
Years ago when Birkenstock sandals were rare down here, I was in a hospital cafeteria line wearing my birks. The cashier looked down at my feet and said, "Honey what happened to your feet?" She thought I was wearing therapeutic apparatus.
Crocs are big and odd. My pair are lime green and look like space shoes.
Go get a pair. I plan to wear mine everywhere and may buy the black color Crocs for pastoral footwear.

St. C, I've seen the Crocs at the health food store; I'll have to try them on next time I go!
The first time I wore Birks to Virginia, my mother sniffed at the airport and said, "I almost didn't recognize you, you were walking so funny." Sigh. Yes, Mom. I was walking painlessly. She ruined her feet wearing a pair of beautiful Aigner pumps and had to wear a shoe insert for the rest of her life. But I was walking funny...
Ooh, me likey!
Thanks for the tip!
Life's too short to wear uncomfortable shoes. I've been known to do it in the name of fashion, but for everyday, fuhgeddaboutit.
Portia and Babs would never let me out of the house in these--BUT...They would be perfect around the house or at the beach. And they come in my size (12) which most things don't. Love the ocean blue ones.
Portia and Babs may want a pair for themselves. So comfortable. The Lovely Daughter (13) sure likes her Crocs.
A size 12 foot is a sign of character. My dance teacher told me this truth years ago.
I can hear my kids crackin' up now...I might have to just do that!
But, oh, what to do with all my pointy toes?
I don't know about a sign of character, but it's clearly a sign of unusual height (over 6')!
Dear Grace,
I stand by my statement that large feet are a sign of character.
If you are over 6' then you are more fortunate in the height dept. than I am.
Dear PPB,
I checked the Croc "glowy" factor before purchasing. The shoes are vented on the top and sides. It is over 90 today and my feet are happy and not "glowy, dewy or drippy". May I comment that your use of the word "glowy" rather than "sweaty" shows that you understand the dictum that women do not sweat, we glow.

After reading your post, I stopped a lady today wearing a pair of lime green crocs and asked her opinion. She loved them, said all the nurses were wearing them and that her back didn't hurt when she wore them.
But, man, are they ever ugly!!!
I tried them on while shopping at Wild Oats today. The only color they had in my size was, I think, "Beach." Or are they trying to tell me it's a beach shoe? I'm confused. Anyway, they sure felt comfy while standing.
Glowy, how marvelous, PPB!
Or to quote my grandmother
"Ugly is as ugly does."
However she would have had a cow if she saw me wearing these.
I've just bought two new pairs of birkis. I may splurge, however. Quotidian Grace, you may have 12s. I need the 5s and can't find them.
