As I read this, I find myself thinking of people in the congregations I have served who could well have written it - changing the denom, of course. I prayed a lot for them...to open the gift of faith that God give, or own up to the fact that they would not. I did my best to work with them when they were in positions of leadership. Their hearts were in the right place. But there were "disconnects" that made it tough...times when we seemed to be speaking 2 different languages.
I felt the same way that Rev Honey did - this could have been written about my denomination as well.
I can't decide whether I'm resigned to this or saddened by it, or both. Either way, it feels like the Spirit's nudging us all toward a new way of being church. The problem is, I haven't the slightest clue what that new church would look like.
