Very cold tonight with a full moon shining through the clouds.

I'm wearing a sweatshirt hoodie with jeans to keep warm. Even Andy, the Warrior Cat, came inside tonight.

Cold rain fell most of today which made us stay home to watch Netflix and read.

I worked on my sermon which did not fall into place until I got back in bed under the covers with three cats snuggled in the comforter folds.

As I began to relax, I saw the John passage on a story board.

Then I saw the flow of the passage as I hadn't before and "got" the text which then put together what I couldn't piece until then.

If you need me, I'll be here watching the sky and glad to be at home.

I wrote a good piece of mine while snuggled under a duvet...no cats...just me and the dust bunnies. I've posted mine, which I know goes an odd place with this text.

Your rain was our rain. It rained all over the south today. And then it rained some more... and it was cold... and now it is colder.

three cats does indeed create a creative juice situation. I had to draw the text to "get it" today, too. It seems like nothing at first, until it seems like something.

This was one of those weeks, and one of those texts, wasn't it?
It's supposed to VERY cold here today. I'm picturing myself napping under many covers later...

I would love to have snuggled in next to you yesterday. For the company, the creativitym and of course the cats.

I have a Board meeting this afternoon, then another visit to make, but hopefully this evening I will be on the couch in front of the fire. Temp here this morning is -40! Brrr...

St. Cass, in my UCC church today there was a artistic depiction of MLK with a halo, placed on the altar. It was pretty, but was it Protestant?

Dear Assumpta,
In the Protestant understanding of saints, MLK Jr.qualifies as do other Christians.
The halo symbolism is a bit much for a Protestant church. I say this as I purse my very Presbyterian lips in slight distaste.
The halo bit strikes me a kitschy which may not be what the sanctuary decorators intended.
Hope you find warm laps during this cold spell.

Check here for how I think sermons are best written. We think along the same lines.

Dear Assumpta,
I am a UCC dog! My mama says we don't have rules about stuff like that, or about stuff at all. If we like a picture we can bring it to church and show it to people to help them think about God. My mama says dogs and cats can have halos, too, sometimes.
Love,
Your friend,
Molly

Molly- I don't usually talk to dogs, but you are a more experienced UCCer than I am, as I'm from many litters of Presbyterians. I like your perspective, thank you.

So, are ya gonna tells us what happened with the sermon or not?
I am intrigued with your vision/ dream on a story board and must hear more.
I miss story boards. Everythinghas to be plugged in these days, and animated, and loud and spinning.
I try to be as post-modern and then some as I can...
but I do miss the 'good ole days' of story boards and puppet shows, and normal flavored kool-aid and only two cookies apiece please....
I also miss kickball in the gym, putt-putt, and freeze-tag.
From the good ole days,...I DO NOT miss not be able to get ordained, having to be baptized numerous times, and having torn crackers for communion.
Serious....ook at any letter key on your keyboard, now draw imaginery line through it diagonally. That was the size of the cracker. Our juice came in shot glasses that were made for Munchkins and was served on a hub cap by men and only men....
Wait where was I???
I need my concentration pills.
