Our eyes are on Hanna and Ike. Look here to see the storms in real time.

Blessings and courage to the East Coast residents.

Yup, it's raining hard here in northern Virginia, and the wind has kicked up. While the rain was still pretty mild, we did go down to the Farmers Market this a.m. (the oldest continuous farmer's market in the nation) and there was one vegetable guy, the estimable Tony, one fruit guy, one dairy guy and one baked goods vendor. Heaven forfend PH should have a Saturday morning without his croissant. Normally there are at least seven veggie farmers, maybe eight offering fruit, the dairy guy, a couple of organic meat and eggs folks, several flower vendors, plus assorted craft sellers. Plus Peruvian folk musicians, assorted political tables, etc. etc. Tony cleaned up today as the only veggie vendor.

The wind and rain may mean that I don't go 45 miles out to the evening service...or not. We'll see what the day brings. People here, who don't know much about dealing with hurricanes (while we ex-NewEnglanders claim expertise) don't drive well in bad weather. Thanks for the prayers...it shouldn't be too bad at all.

Interesting tracking site--I hadn't seen that one before.

We can just keep an eye on Ike together.

Scary stuff for all. I have learned that even a Cat 1 or TS are still scary, esp whne the "spawn" tornados...you dont see those coming until right before they get to you.
The guy that delivered pizza during the one storm was such a riot...I mena really is this what we are to do during a hurricane???
Order pizza? Makes for a great commerical now!

What happens to the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay during a hurricane?

Sherry, I wondered about the prisoners, too. Must be terrifying to be at the mercy of jailers during a hurricane.
