Shock and Awe

Gosh! In a meeting today, the exec pointed out that women and men approach things differently.

I was suggesting, strongly, to a person of important work, that he came across as ungracious and disrespectful of those who worked for him. I'm on the Commission overseeing his work. Then the exec interrupted me to explain that my perspective was the feminine approach.

What a helpful comment from the exec...

I was the only woman in the room. I am the only woman on the Commission.

I am aware I am a woman.

I assumed we were all clear on our gender placements.

Don't mess with me,

St. Casserole

What a patronizing bit of nonsense! "Ungracious and disrepectful," indeed-- he proved your point, in that very instant.

......And you must admit that it was gracious and considerate that he proved and illustrated your point just as you were making it! ;)

Criminy! So patronizing!! It's sounds like another job for the fluffy posse!

Good grief. Apparently sometimes "feminine perspective" means "truth I don't wish to hear." Go you!

Miss you too.

I'm Tall and Commanding (or at least my wiser sisters say so). I will take.him.down. if you want me to.

I've got your "feminine perspective" right here, buddy!

I wish everybody had an EP like mine.

He so needs a ride in the Texas Towncar of Justice.
If Rach and Mindy will loan it to me, I'll drive it up. And I think I am taller than Cheese.

okay, so what I actually thought, in my brain, while reading this, was:

"oh, nuh-uuhh...he did NOT just say that to St. C...oh, he did. What an a**. I can't believe that just happened."

What I actually intended to write here was...well, that.

Please tell me someone else on the commission had brains enough to stand up for/with you? please, please please?

oh dear.

prayers and righteous indignation coming from the midwest!

Aside from what everyone else has said, doesn't he realize that he has to work with women, some of whom may have a "feminine" perspective. I may be smaller than cheesehead, but I can beat him up, too. (Of course, I've never been accused of having a "feminine perspective".) One of the great misfortunes is that churches are not subject to federal antidiscrimination laws. The church is the last place in the US where you can do this. Other people may think it, but they can't SAY it.

Oh! And "feminine perspective" = wrong? Nullifying someone's point ("conveniently" justifying ignoring it) by hinting the person is subhuman -- nasty tool I see quite often. And way too often in the church.

I'll come down there and 'splain things to him -- I talk some pretty good psycho-babble, as I'm not particularly good at physical, um, convincing.

At the risk of being even more offensive than said offensive man, here's a tidbit of truth imparted to me many long years ago by a wise old Army chaplain:

"The longer you live, Psalmist, the more you'll realize that every human system needs an anus. And that includes the body of Christ. It's no fun to be up close and personal with that person, but they do serve their function."

So sorry you had to be up close and personal to such particularly stinky waste matter, though. >:P

It's just as well that everyone else has showered you with encouragement...as for once I am at a loss for words! Congratulations on not thumping him then and there..oh, and hugs too x

Psalmist, you made me laugh so hard I made the dogs bark.

I'm not quite as tall as Grace but I'm pretty tall! I'm willing to ride in the back to get in on this thumpin'!

And his point was? How about I bring the Alabama Acura of justice?

Hehehe...sure! We could have us a good ol' posse of justice from the "Feminine Perspective"! I can just see this parade of power cars pulling up in front of the Presbytery office...shock and awe, indeed! (maniacal grin)
