Whistle the Kitten

You may think our lives are all sweetness and light here at Casa Casserole. As true as that is most of the time, I'm worried today about Whistle the Kitten. Wish I had a photo of Fish with his arm around Whistle's shoulders last night as they snuggled on my prayer shawl.

Whistle got into something. My worry is that the large Hershey's bar, (you know that big kind kids bring you when they're in trouble and want you to over look their behavior? Yeah, that kind.) , the LH found Whistle happily dragging across the bedroom floor may have had a bite or two out of it. I didn't see this so I didn't check Whistle for chocolate breath or tell-tale crumbs.

Whistle looks ill. He's eating, drinking, littering. All good. He looks kind low so I'm keeping an eye on him.

Why a kitten would eat chocolate is a mystery in my universe.

Keeping an eye on Whistle the Kitten today.
Call me if you need me.

Why would a kitten eat chocolate...?

Uh, have you *tasted* the stuff?

Kittens ain't dumb.

But I hope she's OK.

I have to agree with RM. Why wouldn't a kitten eat chocolate? Unless it was turned down for even better white chocolate?

Oh, Whistle! It's bad enough you were dying your hair green at an early age! Now you are trying to turn Aunt Songbird's grey with worry!!
Hope he's okay, St. C.

I took Whistle to see the vet who said it was unlikely that W. ate chocolate. Whistle's fever was at 105 degrees which is dreadful as normal catty temp is 101 degrees. Whistle got a shot to lower his fever, two shots with antibiotics and had his blood taken. He hated it all and I did not care for how the Respite Vet handled him. We return tomorrow morning for another appointment.
Whistle ate some kitty crunchies and drank some water when we came home.
Fish was hysterical with relief to have his brother home as he feared for the worst when W. left for the vet.
Both kittens and LD are asleep on the sofa. Whistle purred when I checked on him. Fish licked my hand in thanksgiving that Whistle was next to him.
I will keep you updated.
Remember that God hears prayers for animals, too. God made them, too.

As a dog mama who skipped church recently to spend the morning hovering over an errant cattle dog who had managed to gulp an enormous chunk of rawhide, I join in the prayers for baby Whistle. I hope he'll be feeling much better tomorrow.

6:30am. Update
Whistle purrs, eats, sleeps and drinks with renewed health. The shots really helped. I'm taking Fish in this morning just in case he has whatever-it-is, too.
Yippee! Whistle is better!

Poor Whistle! I'm glad he's feeling better. It's so hard when our little furry friends are unwell. I hope Fish is okay too.

The love that animals have for each other overwhelms me. I hope the little men are holding each other close.

My Nellie, who lost her beloved sister Zelda this summer, has two new friends, Jasmine and Hannah.

There has been a few growls, but nothing serious, just the "respect my body" sort of growls. They are playing and Nellie is less depressed. I know she still misses her sister and so do I.
