I am on the East Coast with my LLS and SiL along with my LD. LD and I drove up from Florida on Friday morning. I intend to enroll LD in an East Coast school for the remainder of her 8th Grade year. I have no immunization records, no birth certificate but I do have her SS number. We will do our best with what we have.

The misery of all this for the people of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama is beginning to fray my heart so much that I feel like hiding under a bed in the dark. I've handled all I could for the past week, sustained I believe, by the power of your prayers along with those of our friends, etc. My LH is back at home sleeping with a shotgun nearby and guiding disaster officials around so damage to our churches can be assessed. He and our LS are getting a hot meal each day from the United Methodists who showed up before the Federal or State people to give out water, ice and encouragement. I can bear it that our family is separated but understand that I am needed to settle the LD, that there is no power, AC or supplies for me to be a home. I am comfortable here with my LLS and LSiL.

I am grateful that my family is alive. I've missed all of you and found myself during the odd or trying times of this week wanting to blog about the experiences. I could watch tv and use my cell phone every now and then but no internet. Depending on the television networks for news is a skewed view.

I have more to say but will say it later. Again, thank you for your prayers and concern. Mr. Casserole did his best to keep up with the blog (Good job, Sweetheart!) and I thank him, too.

Yours,
St. Casserole

I do not know what to say to comfort or encourage you, only that I care deeply and am praying for you and all those devastated by Katrina. May your daughter receive the love, friendship, education, and distraction she needs at her new school during this very difficult time. God bless you and sustain you.

Oh, dear St. Casserole! You have been in my thoughts and prayers every hour of each day. Thank you so much for taking this time to let your blog pals know how things are for you.
What news of your little church? We prayed this morning for "Cassy" and her family and her church, too.
Bless you all.

Good Luck to your child in facing a totally different school year than she was expecting! Let us know what we can do once you know yourself.

At my church, yours is the "Cass" family. I am so glad that you are safe, and so sorry that you have had to endure this, and will have to endure much more in the coming days and weeks. God be with you, friend, I pray for you daily.

What they all said. Feels to me like you've all been driven into the wilderness of a sort. The Markan wilderness, the one that came "immediately."

You know where I am on the East Coast. If you're near me, I would be honored to have you and LD and all the other initialed family members you're with for dinner. You know what I will serve for dessert.

so glad to hear news from you! I've been by your blogspot two or three times a day hoping there would be a post.

we will continue to lift you up in prayer

Oh St Cass...never have I been so glad to read a blog post! You are all in our thoughts and prayers so constantly...and specially your daughter in her new environment. Assuming the systems match, LoudBoy is just one year ahead of her, and I can vividly imagine how he'd have hated disruption to school life. I'm sure she'll be brave and make the best of the situation, as clearly her parents do. Wish I were near enough to do something helpful, but sending much love, hugs and many prayers xx

Thank God! for your voice.

I've been checking your blog several times each day and praying on it. My computers (work and home) are well steeped. And "Cassie and Family" are on the parish prayer list. That includes your church family and friend family, BTW.

Thinking specially of LD as she makes a new beginning.

Blessings and safety to you and yours.

Sending much love

...and if you get to go to dinner at ReverendMother's, you all can just go up the road a few miles to my house as well.

It it such a relief to see you blogging again. We've been praying for you without ceasing, as for all those displaced by the storm.

A tough adjustment for LD, to be sure, but if she's strong like her mother, she'll get through it OK.

So glad to hear you're okay, St. Casserole. Well, maybe not okay, but alive and safe. And I am praying for you and yours.

Once you're back on the ground, please let us know what you and your church need. I bet your Pals and other online friends would be honored and delighted to send food, replace hymnals or Sunday School supplies, or contribute to a fund for rebuilding lives and properties.

And if you and/or your family end up in the Washington, DC area before you make your way home, let me know and I'll break out the pots and pans!

I am thinking and praying about and for you and your family. I know how difficult this is. Please let me know how I can help? Do you need clothes? Do you need money?

What they all said. I'm so glad you're okay, safe and sound. There's really nothing else to say, is there? Be well. And I also do not know where your East Coast is, but if it's near me, let me know!

Hey, Cass! Glad you are getting LD settled. Rick and I are going to BSL again tomorrow for the grueling task of cleaning up. IT IS AWFUL!! The kids will be with my parents until we get some stability. Glad LH and LS are getting some hot UMC meals! We can't wait to see you and yours again. Much love and prayers!

We are facing similar decisions with our 6th grader. I am totally overwhelmed trying to helo my parishioners. You are right, unless you are in it you can't possibly grasp it. And I am in it and can't.
I now total 31 parishioner whose homes no longer exist. Church, of course is gone (the building). Church, of course is here (the people).
You are in my prayers

The Casseroles have divided up, with St.C going North with daughter and Mr. C going South home.

The office is destroyed, leaving only steps.

The house has just a little damage, nothing to worry about, but about 80% of all trees down.

Son and I are helping with church relief. Both Methodist and Presbyterians are very active. I assume others too, just don't know.

There is a web site, local, posting personal comments. See,
