How did July turn into The Month of Meetings? It's hot and we need iced drinks and less work.
I'm off to another big meeting this morning in another county. I have paperwork to do here in my study now delayed for this afternoon. I must finish the reading list for a small church worship course I'll teach in February. I recall that the deadline for this was July 1..... A sermon is simmering but not written. Presbytery committee work is piling up undone.
I thought this was a slow time of year. Where did I go wrong?
I began Harry Potter last night after I pried it from the paws of LS. After 15 pages, I was asleep. I like the way Rowling begins this one. Don't tell me what happens!
The new kitties are adjusting well. Andy, the new Alpha, seems to be enjoying having little kids to manage.
See you next time I can pause. Or is it paws?

Is it just me, or does it seem like a lot of us women in ministry types are owned by cats?

Hmmmmm....

Sue, I think there are plenty of dogs who run with clergywomen, too. I like dogs and cats but cats work better in my household...
I was telling a friend about "inner dorothy" today and she loved the concept. Said you sounded creative.

At our house, we have both: three cats and two enormous dogs. So I think it goes both ways.

I've often thought it would be nice to have a dog to take with me to the church when I have to go and open up the building for an evening meeting, especially in winter when it gets dark so early.

I've never had a dog, but I've met plenty that I've really liked. Maybe some day. Of course, I would have to name it....Toto!

Here the 5 humans are owned by 3 cats and 2 dogs...There are also 2 semi detached ponies, who live elsewhere, but are pretty stringent in exercising their ownership rights too.
re meetings: I know exactly what you mean...for us, it's trying to get everything said and sorted before people vanish for summer holidays when the schools break up on Friday. Last meeting is next Thurs...then nothing till September. I'm hugely envious of your managing to think preparations for a February course now, though...for me, that would be maybe 28th Jan ;-)

Toto! I love it!!
Here in Maine, StC, church life just putters along in the summer, which is a real blessing for this pastor with children home from school, shuttling between camps, jobs, etc. I don't keep office hours; I do a lot of visiting. I read, which is especially nice. And this week, I drink a lot of iced drinks. It was 96 here earlier, but we have cooled to an acceptable 85 degrees now.
